Anyway we haven't yet established that the credit balance is not justified at this time of the year.

Yes - couldn't agree more there.

(I presumed when the OP meant interest, they meant that BG was getting interest, not themselves. :) I stand corrected).

Just to add suppliers do not earn interest on your money for DD just like they do not charge interest for accounts in debt or customers on quarterly billing who don't pay for their usage in advance.

I always take whatever money is owed to us back at the end of each quater--I just ask for it and they pay it back. It does mean that they have to close and re-open the dd, but that is their problem for having such a clumsy system.

I recieved my bill today and I have the dd discount.

What I don't have is part of my bill . For some reason the bottom half of the front page is blank, and the "handy consumption comparison graph" is also absent. Anybody body else missing information??

  • Thanks for all your advice.
I'm on GCH (also BG) which is £121 in credit. I pay a set amount every month, and I'm on click energy 5.
Overall I think it might be best if I sit tight and wait till May for my review. As a previous reply stated I could be in credit today, then get charged more tomorrow.
Will keep you posted, if you're interested?

You seem to have reasonable credit balances on both accounts, but as you say, only if charges to the account are up to date. You can work this out - look at the statements and note the last charges for gas and electricity. If they were recently, check the meter readings to make sure any estimates are accurate.

If you haven't had any charges for a couple of months, or meter readings have been underestimated, you need to leave the credit balances to cover the bills due.
