Is this cloakroom set ok? Could we get cheaper? Anything else to consider?

We're wanting a new downstairs toilet set, and have found the following:

Sink with Vanity:

Toilet: (although this is £99 in store without the seat)
http://www.bathstore.com/_application/search_results.php?q=toilet+mytime+close+coupled

We'll need a mixer tap too, but not paying the silly prices they are quoting... Any ideas?

Does anyone think this is an OK price, or could we get cheaper? Also, is there anything else to consider???

I really appreciate the help!

Well yes you can get quite a bit cheaper than that but it depends on what you want. You can get a toilet for about 60 quid, basins for a heck of a lot less than 200 pounds too.

I like bathstore stuff, it's often special looking but if it isn't 50% off then it isn't even competitive, in my experience. Therefore your pretty toilet is quite competitve because it's pretty but the cabinet I'm not so sure about. Do you need a big cabinet in a downstairs loo? it's cheaper without, obviously.

The last cabinet and bowl I did, I bought a lovely white cabinet half price for 35 in the Next sale, a separate bowl somewhere else for 49 and cut the hole in the cabinet to make it fit. The tap I think was 29 from ebay.

It looked good enough that the EAs photographer took a picture of it, lol!

That vanity unit is 660mm wide, that seems quite big for a downstairs loo.

We recently bought basin and WC for downstairs WC and had the Metro Cutie mini basin mixer at £69 from Bathstore - see here and scroll down. Our basin was the Soho at 500mm, second one down.

660mm is quite large even for a main bathroom.
  • i have just purchased a cloakroom suite from focus £96 for the set. sink is small and compact which is what i wanted in my bathroom as its only used for brushing teeth etc. depends how much money you have to spend i suppose

Well we need a vanity unit, as there is currently a 'boxed in' bit under the sink, and want to avoid the cost of re-tiling the floor. Plus, it'd be nice to have a cupboard, since we could store some cleaning products in there.

If I could wait for a cabinet to come up in the Next sale, I definitely would, but the OH wants it done right now! (Typical!)

The way our cloakroom is set out, it's quite wide. I think it's around 750-800mm wide - so figured we may aswell go for the 660, as the 600 was the same price anyway.

Well, we have no capped limit technically, although I want to keep it under £500 including fitting. We have a friend fitting it for £60.
