Help me!!! No heating!
My pilot light has gone kaput! So I have no heating or hot water!!!
I called the council and they said tomorrow...
So I called my gas supplier they were CLOSED...
I called national grid and they advised me to call the council back
" that's not good enough I can hear the baby crying in the background by law they can't leave you with no heating over night as you have a vulnerable occupant"
So...
Back to the council.
We were told that as we have a gas fire and it is working safely that they don't have to do anything. He was talking about the tenancy agreement blah blah... and he also said in his own words. "We don't have to be dictated to by the national grid".
Is this true?

Your appliances have nothing to do with National Grid or your gas supplier so don't involve them. Your situation is a matter between yourself and your landlord i.e the Council.0

Its a pre war house and I don't think the boiler has been changed since it was first installed!!!! It is a back boiler thats why I wanted to find out if it is safe!I'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

Unless you honestly feel that you might have an unsafe situation and/or you can smell gas, then dont bother ringing national Grid. You may end up worse off as they may well cut off your supply and issue you with a standard warning notice. Dont expect that to stimulate the council either.
If the pilot has gone off,a mechanism will have cut off the gas supply to it.
Have you tried relighting it?0 -
yeah

Just a suggestion so sorry if Im stating something you already know but you have to hold the button in for quite a while to light the pilot. Press the button in for 30 secs or so then press the other button to ignite it while continuing to hold the first button in.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494
