I have banked online for about 3 years and have not had a bit of trouble with it. I can set up standing orders and move money from one account to another easily. The only thing I cant do is draw money but again thats easy cause I draw money on my debit card at my local post office.
Its far better for me.0 -
Sorry for being thick, but I have been concidering this too. I get that you can move money around and set up standing orders and I can see the benefits of that but how do you draw money out?
When you say you use your debit card do you have a debit card for this account or do you have to move some into another current account and draw it from their? When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt

Most of them have their own (optional) debit card. Depends which account you go for, as to where you can use it, but majority are Visa and can be used in many ATMs or cashback in shops. Some, like Cahoot, can also be used in post offices, where cash can also be paid in.0

Hi there. I am a First Direct customer and they do online/telephone banking (no branches) but you can pay money in and draw it out at HSBC branches. I would thoroughly recommend them as a bank - they are always polite and helpful and in fact I feel their service on the phone is far more personal than my local HSBC branch face to face. You can get them to pay all your bills, direct debits and can transfer between accounts very easily online. You can transfer money between savings and current accounts, pay money into other bank accounts etc. They have made my financial life much, much easier and you can see transfers happening while you are online. The other great thing they do is they will text you your bank balance to your mobile phone and the last 5 (I think) transactions on your account(s). I find this brilliant if I think I am going to go overdrawn and can then correct it before the end of the banking day and therefore not incur charges. They give you a low interest rate overdraft and pay a small amount of interest on your current account. I have never had any problems with their online service at all, and if I did I know I could ring them and they would be reasonable. They do a % Visa card, several savings accounts and a very good flexible mortgage that I can offset against the money in my other accounts. The cheque card/ATM card can be used in most cashpoint machines on the high street. Check them out as they have a superb reputation. Maybe you could look on this board and get one of their offers where they pay you and an existing cutomer £25 to open an account! Good luck.0
