CCCS appointment tonight - unsure of outstanding amounts

ozzyfan.
Dee breath and then take on board what CCCS have said. they have given you a realistic budget to manage your finances on. No more robbing Peter to pay paul, not buying things you need to pay another credit card off.
Take the opportunity and go with their advice. 20 years is a long time but things might change in your personal circumstances and if you have more left over each month than anticipated you can always throw that at the debt thus reducing the amount of time you are in debt.
i have just started out with Payplan and whilst my debt free date is not as far away as yours it really was the best thing i ever did.
fell free to conatct me for support anytime. good luck and take it one step at a time.

Hi OF
So sorry it didn't go as expected (((hugs))).
I agree with davek1 that you should consider going ahead with the DMP even though 20 years is such a hideous thought for you right now. Circumstances change and you may have more money to chuck at your debts to bring the term down. I remember at my last CCCS review they said I should be paying double what I had been which was a shock, but it meant I finished my DMP a lot sooner than it would have been.
Take care xMortgage-free wannabe!0 -
davek1 thank you very much for your reply

had a bit of a sleepless night last night but am feeling a bit more positive today.
CCCS were great & have given me a very generous budget to live on, my housekeeping budget is 3 times what I have been spending for as long as I can remember & my gas allowance is 4 times what it was!
I know that I can live on less though so I was wondering if I could put any savings I make away & try to make f+f settlement offers when I have enough? not sure if I'm allowed to do this though but it would bring my debt free date a lot closer.
They have put my mind at rest regarding creditors chasing me for payments & have said that I can just send the original loan agreements if I get no reply regarding outstanding amounts, so thats good.
I was really worried about creditors ringing up & nasty letters but as yet I haven't received a single letter or phonecall! (bet it won't last long though)
I'm so glad that contacting Payplan has been a such a good experience for you davek1
Never had a credit card in my life though! Looking back I think it would have been better for me to have had one, what started off taking a loan out for an unexpected emergency has spiralled out of control & ended up with 3 consolidaton loans. One of them has such a high interest rate that CCCS were appalled, but I was stupid enough to sign it at the time because I was desperate without realising I was being ripped off.
I contacted CCCS last year before I found this site but was so scared I cancelled the appointment & tried to keep going with the full payments kidding myself that I could get by. I am really proud that I actually went through with it this time but I have to say I couldn't have done it without the support of all you guys, you have been brilliant whenever I have needed help
& emotional support you have been there. So thank you so much :T
still can't bear to put my debt free date on my signature though, 2026
thanks also ruyareece just seen your post, I will definately be going through with the DMP, CCCS are sending the paperwork & letters for me to send out. I have to send token payments again this month & then my DMP will hopefully start the end of March
thanks again to everyone who's helped me :A0 -
Hi
just wanted to say i know how you feel, i have just made my first payment to CCCs this month, got about 12 years to go  , But i can tell you this i can now sleep at night ok things are tight but my life quality has improved no end , they take away so much stress. so good luck.0 -
thank you murphy
what a relief for you, I'm so pleased that things are easier for you now
I really hope my DMP is accepted, my proper payments a month amount to nearly £600 a month so for it to drop to £85 a month is a big reduction so I'm not sure if this will be acceptable to them.
I suppose CCCS wouldn't have advised it if they thought there would be a problem so I'm going to put my trust in them & keep my fingers crossed.0 -
got my paperwork from CCCS today to sign along with a letter to photocopy to send to all my creditors
Do you think I should send them recorded delivery?
There won't be token payments in there as I already sent them.
Still haven't had a single letter or phone call from my creditors
I'm now going to sign to say I'll not be having any more credit yippee what a relief :j0 -
Hi Ozzy,
Ive just got back from the post office, Ive sent my letters recorded but they did have postal orders in there. My main concern was that my creditors may try and say they havent recieved my photocopied letter from the cccs though. If you can offord it I would send then recorded but mine just set me back £15!! I feel so much better for getting eveything sent off though, like you I just hope they all accept my dmp.
Im so pleased we are both on the way to getting ourselves sorted out
Keep us updated,

Poor Pixie! I try whenever I can to avoid recorded letters and special delivery. One strategy is to send the letter by ordinary post AND email - you often get an automated email response, so then they can NEVER say that they haven't had the letter
I say in the email that I've sent a letter as well, and vice versa.
But I can see that debt letters might be a bit too confidential to send by email. Why don't you send an email which says something like
'I have sent a letter today, 10.2.06, giving details of proposed repayments (or whatever). If you have not received this letter by 17.2.06 please contact me urgently, and I will send a copy. If I do not hear from you by 18.2.06 I will assume that this letter has been received. I have not repeated the text of the letter here for confidentiality reasons.'
Then you can send your letter by ordinary mail! (I don't understand about postal orders, but can't you keep the counterfoil or something so random theives can't cash them?)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
thats a good idea jobbingmusician I shall go & see if I can find e-mail addresses for all of them.
I've got 6 creditors but the recorded delivery is all adding up as have to send token payments at the end of the month too.
glad everythings been sent off now Pixie, at least you can relax a little knowing there's nothing more you can do
Hope everything goes through ok for you I'm sure it will be fine.
don't forget to keep us posted on any news
