CCCS appointment tonight - unsure of outstanding amounts

I have my hour long appointment with CCCS tonight but none of my creditors have got back to me with the amount I owe on my 3 loans

Should I just tell them the amount of the original loan, they are all fairly recent (last 2 years) or do you think the amount will be higher or a bit lower.
I know that its mostly interest paid off in the first few years. Is there any way of getting a more accurate figure until they get back to me?

thanks :)

  • Is there no way you could phone them and ask? I say this because when I was with the CCCS I would often phone my creditors when needed and they would happily give me outstanding figures over the phone.

    Hi there,
I don't have a definitive answer to your question, but if I were in your position, I would ring CCCS NOW, state your position, and ask if it is worth having your hour long meeting.

If it's not, then they can re-schedule it, and maybe get someone else to fill the slot tonight.

I don't know how they work, but I would imagine it might not be the best situation if the hour booked for you is unuseable.

Hi, we did not know the outstanding amounts either, just told CCCS the original loan and roughly how long it had to run and that was enough for them.I hope this helps!
    Good luck!

  • I've tried doing this before with one of the loans just to find out the balance (household bank  ) & they wouldn't disclose the amount on the phone for security reasons & it took them well over 5 weeks to send the then outstanding amount.

I just assumed that this was common practice so I'll ring the other 2 companies today & try & get a figure from them.

    thanks for that ruyareece.
  • I really do not want to cancel my appointment tonight as I've had to wait over a month for an evening one

will it really be a waste of time if I can't get the figures?

Oh I see. Thankfully I had no trouble getting info over the phone but I spose it could also matter who the companies are? Good luck anyway and at the end of the day, CCCS are happy to take an estimated outstanding amount and then once you know the true figure you can phone them and update. :D Good luck mate xx

No! Don't cancel! They're used to people not having exact figures - don't worry!

I don't think I could stand another month of worry!

If I can't get the figures I'll do what you & taplady suggest

At least I should know my approx debt free date tonight, I have a feeling its going to be a long time away but I am determined to do whatever I can to clear it as soon as possible.
  • Make sure you post back tonight and let us know how it went!

  • well I had my appointment & am a bit in shock at the moment

after CCCS worked out my budget there was only £45 left to pay creditors so bankruptcy was brought up which I really did not expect

After jiggling the budget a bit managed to have £85 left so am able to do a DMP but its going to take 20 years to reach my debt free date, I am gutted

I thought I had about £200 left & it would take about 8 years, I think I have been vastly underspending on my household budget for years in order to keep up to date with the debt repayments

so I'm just taking it all in at the moment & a bit shocked
