I was in Somerfield yesterday and the woman in front of me used loads of the Somerfield magazine coupons off her shop. I didn't have the front to ask the cashier afterwards if they do accept them even if you don't buy the product. Does anyone know if they do? I couldn't tell from the customer's trolley whether she did or not!

PS - I know that Tesco do not accept Somerfield coupons as a rule.

Well........ i AM a cashier at somerfield lol.
I accepted these coupons once, infact 8 coupons, because the next day i went into work i got called into the managers office and got a warning cos they saw em in the tills, all nicely cut out etc so they checked it out on the computers.
The woman that gave em to me has now been banned from the store as she done it to 3 cashiers because i got told it is actually illegal, theft through deception.

So, if u can try, they do scan even if you dont buy the products but think about it lol

lol, they even checked the CCTV, all over £6 worth of coupons :P

I used the Somerfield coupons in Tesco today but on self scan.

Just out of interest, how many coupons do you put through on the self scanner&does the total bill influence how many you use?.

I only ever go up to five pounds sometimes I go round twice so use up to ten pounds. I guess 10-15% of the bill. I get very nervous doing it though. I know that some people using this site easily use twenty pounds but I wouldn't have the nerve.

Just a note to say recently all the coupons scanned at self serve have asked for "Store Approval" and then the CS have come along and studied which coupons you put through!! They then warn you not to put other supermarket vouchers through-- just manufacturer & specific spend coupons-- such as " Spend £50 Save £5" ( Available from Asda & Sainsbury`s sometimes)

Suppose I`ll surrender the great coupon shop & shop online instead using codes-- it works out about the same ( such as £10 off a £30 spend with free delivery!)and you don`t have to look over your shoulder!! :grinheart
