Hi
My neighbour knows I'm on internet a lot and has asked me to find out whether he can claim DLA for asthma & plantar fasciitis. I know the foot one is really painful and I've seen him hobbling around abit.
Thanks in advance

You dont get DLA on a diagnosis but how the disabilty effects you and your care needs.

if your unable to cook a meal for one, can't peel pots ect. unable to do house work ect you can get the care rate . mobility is if you can't walk, hobble along like or in wheel chair ect .if you need help to go out .or poeple to come and help you carry shopping change bedding and so on . lots of different things involved in wether you can claim. prob best to go local CAB for help and to fill in formsthe truth is out there ... on these pages !!0

Actually, help with shopping or any housework is specifically excluded from DLA. If that kind of thing is put on the form your neighbour will definately be turned down. Think of it as help which can only be given if the person is present - dressing, toiletting, bathing etc. Houswork or shopping could be done by anyone.Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come!0
