  • Reaper,
This site isn’t trying to sell you any book. Go back to the site and find plenty of info although written a while ago most is still relevant. Just read up on the truth.
This thread is great and arguments on both sides are very good. One excellent point that Deemy makes has to be taken into account. What if science finds a way of making gold???

Not so sure it’s any issue at all. After all we all have to accept paper bank notes that are mass-produced and are supposed to have value, and yet they have very little intrinsic use whatsoever.
Allegedly company shares are sold each day that do not really exist or are duplicated and sold multiple times.

Money generally is being produced out of thin air at an alarming rate. And yet the populace is ok with it? :'(

If or when gold can be mass-produced it will still probably require more effort or work to create than the paper banknotes and electronic money.

When the world gets to the point that real money is required I will still rather trust mass produced gold, to mass produced paper/linen notes or electronic computer numbers.

All the above is in my opinion only.
  • I agree but the point is valid and has to be made.

Commodities and especially precious metals are only in the beginning stages of a new bull market.

Just remember that precious metal bear markets are far swifter than precious metal bull markets

I.e. a market that takes 4 years to rise can be retraced in less than a half of that time.

Still it cannot be denied that Gold IS in a bull market and that it IS targetting 500, though what happens to gold after 500 is anyones guess ? As it will depend on its behaviour once it gets there. I.e. will it be able to build a base above or below 500 ready for an assault on 550 , or will it mark the end and a collapse in the price to back below 400.

Just cannot say which scenerio will play out, just that at the moment gold still appears to be targetting 500.

Okay I concede, it is as valid as any point that has been around for 4500+ years and still counting.
But I bet that our fake fiat money for better or worse is transmuted first.

Gold 422, up from 415, likely will test and probably break 415, but then build support above 400. The bull market remains intact ....... For now.......

Whether gold is the answer or any answer at all is just a matter of opinion.

  • Hi

WOW I'm not sure about the veracity of (some of) the previous posts. But I am sure you are right in that you do need to do some research, make sure you understand what you are buying into and how it sits in the context of today's "gold rush" at the very least take note of the trends in the market and how to dispose of any holdings should the need arise.

I buy gold coins - have done for years - some sources have already been identified for you. Unles you drop lucky and have aprivate source I STRONGLY suggest you explore reputable dealers who will give you straight advice and charge minimum commission - there are plenty - I would suggest these are worth a look (no connection other than satisfied customer):

    http://www.lockdales.com/

There is also a good site for tracking the prices etc at:

    http://www.kitco.com/charts/livegold.html

You can track in dollars, pounds euros etc

    Good Luck
