Advance and existing Lloyds Credit Card Holders

This is my first posting so apologies in advance if too long! I took Lloyds up on their internet offer of an Advance credit card -5.5% life of balance transfer rate which I thought was quite good as had a bit of debt I wanted to transfer onto it and pay off properly. I am already a Lloyds platinum card holder with a small amount of debt which my plan was to move to Egg card in my birthday month to get their 0% for a while. Sorted? Maybe not! What Lloyds didn't tell me/make obvious, and believe me I read all the small print I thought, was that being accepted for this card automatically led them closing your current platinum card and then to transfer your outstanding balance straight over. They also managed to alter the pathway of my paypal account so a recent ebay purchase went straight onto new Advance card not the old one. So I have purchase and a 'balance' on the new Advance card which is already attracting 11.9% interest and will be paid off after any BTs I make. In addition, my platinum card expires next month and I have been sent a new one for an account which was closed end of January without my knowledge and the activation conversation for that card held today didn't tell me. Neither did the activation conversation I had today for the Advance card flag up, when they asked me if I wanted to BT that I already had debt on the card!! Maybe I should have been sharper but I really didn't see this one coming!
