Under cupboard/task kitchen Lights

I need some under cupboard task lights for my kitchen. Screwfix have some nice triangular undershelf spotlights with a transformer - Halogen 20w capsule lamps. They also have some with LED clusters which they reckon have a low heat output - which is best - do the 20w halogens get very warm and do the LED clusters last much longer to warrant them being twice the price.
Any help gratefully received

Steer clear of the LEDs. They are most unlikely to be of insufficient quality at that price to offer the benefits that LEDs should.
The halogens will get hot, but for food prep areas with loads of other hot stuff around it can hardly be a problem.
Also the quality and quantity of light from the latter will be far superior and give you a better impression of just whether you can get away with eating that huge steak that just happens to be 2 days past its sell buy date.0 -
I installed the s/steel triangular halogens a few years back and have never noticed the heat problem to be honest. Try screwfix direct as they were doing them cheaper than most a few months back.I save so I can spend.0

If you have a light pelmet underneath wall cupboards, you can't do better than the white-light from these: -

Check ebay - they have much cheaper prices that screwfix. I have just received 6 underunits lights for my kitchen from a trader called "brandedlighting4u"
Very cheap prices, quick delivery and they look good quality. They also came with free link cables which most people charge extra for.
I have no relations with this company - I just found them on ebay last week and made a purchase.0 -

I go on about this a lot, so if you've read it before just move-along...
These are fluorescent and though the light does indeed appear white, it will not render the colours in the food correctly.
But if thats not particularly important, then yes they will be fine. Very efficient and very long life relative to the halogens.0 -
Some of the fluorescent strips make the shelf above (bottom shelf of cupboard) very warm. Not a good idea if you have tins of food on the shelf.0

Thanks for al the advice - I'll have a look on e-bay in case cheaper than screwfix. I've got strip lights under the copboards now and thw shelf directly above does get a bit warm!!
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!
