House fire advice please!!!

Hi I'm after some advice,
Last wed unfortunately my parents house was completely gutted by a house fire.
We were there at the time and were lucky to escape, the fire gutted the entire house and also the garage.
My question is - My dad had 2 motorbikes in the garage and also my bike, noe the bike I bought was new to me and was in his garage for storage and therefore un insured.
My mums insurance has said that the bike is not insured on the house insurance, is their anything I can do. Basicly if my bike was insured I could claim from them like a thridparty but unfortunately its not.... can I challenge this?
Not trying to be greedy just have lost everythign and took my so long to save for that bike
cheers

From memory, road vehicles are never covered by household insurance. I suppose the logic is that they have to be covered by a road-going policy.
I think that this even applies to bicycles, but these can be added to the contents policy.
Bad luck btw.0
