Postal Orders

Sorry folks this is probably a really stupid question but I have a load of letters to send off to debt companies and everybody says send a postal order and not a chq. Well I have led a sheltered life and I have never bought a PO before. I cannot get on to the Post Office or Royal Mail's website for some reason and I don't know what I need to do. I need about 8 x £1 POs. Do I need to take the payee names with me to the post office or do they just issue them blank and then I add the payee name in?

I would wait for the RM web to come back up but I need to buy them today.

Thanks

I've always just bought them and added the payee name afterwards.

I buy mine blank too and fill the creditor name in later, don't forget to add your account reference/credit card number to the payee line too.
Postal orders cost from 50p each too so take spare cash with you.

Go to PO, ask the cashier for CROSSED Orders. You will get thm with no Payee name and with an individual receipt for each one.
This receipt carries tthe PO Number ( same as a cheque ) keep this with the copy of what you send to the Creditor, so you can check if cashed.
When you send the PO, send it Recorded, and keep the receipt for that so tat you can check delivery on the Post Office website.

Just curious, why do you want to send postal orders, which are charged for when you could just as easily send a cheque

If you are sending them to 8 different people then sending them recorded also costs about 88p each, now that really would be crazy
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I'm sending off CCA requests and everyone on here seems to say send a PO and not a chq, not really sure why!? I just presume that everyone on here knows more than me so I don't question these things!
