Does anyone have any experience of RK Shipman insurance?

I got some some home buildings insurance quotes on money supermarket and the best deal is with a broker called RK Shipman Insurance. I have never heard of them and am a bit confused about how they can offer insurance so much cheaper than the others!
They do have an exclusive 10% off offer at the moment and the figure is about £900 but the next on down on the list is £2400 with Budget.
The problem with the house I am buying is that the rebuild cost is £675000 and it flooded 2 years ago(freak flood) so I am aware that the insurance will be expensive.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

As you mentioned they are the broker, if you advise us of the name of the Insurer we can advise you whether the Insurer is any good.
If you want to find out whether KP Shipman are regulated by the Financial Services Authority your can do it here

Why are you not staying with the Insurance Company who paid out on the flood as this is what would normally happen0 -
To get yourself and your home insured from any contingency, visit Inproagent. They possess expertise in offering insurance to all types of home related emergencies.0

Make sure you get a quote direct from the broker. A difference in price that large would suggest that the comparison website hasn't passed the information through properly.0

The current insurer of the property is Norwich Union, they have given me a quote for £3600 which I thought was a little high!
I did phone the broker to check that they were aware of the flooding issue and rebuild cost and they said it had been factored in.
I don't know who the insurer is, only the broker at present, however I will find out.0 -
Oh I forgot to say thank you for you help!0

Yes, well done, very good, now p*ss off and spam somewhere else. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
Having read another thread, I agree with the writer staing words like pole, barge, do not touch. I took out a B&C policy through these people in Feb 2011. In Oct 2011 I moved house and contacted Shipmans only to be told that I only have contents insurance! They have since advised me (after having a policy for 10 months) that they are still awaiting return of the proposal form from Feb 2011 (its 12 Dec 2011). Not what I would call competent.
My opinion is stay well clear.0 -
I can confirm that R K Shipman are a great little broker based in Exeter. The staff are so friendly and they offer great deals for insurance that normally costs the earth. I have had a policy for the last 2-3 years and it's gone down rather than up. They also insure my Holiday Home and my parents Park Home!!! Certainly worth a look and I totally recomend them!!0
