also if you have home insurance,you sometimes get legal advice cover,check and maybe use this.im told they will sometimes draft you a letter.if you paid on a credit card rather than a debit,you will have additional guarentees with the credit card company.0

Thanks, never thought of the home insurance option - I'd always assumed that was just legal matters related to claims on your home (e.g. someone tries to sue you if your wall falls on them), but I'll check my policy.
Decided to go the trading standards route first - letter went in the post this morning following the deadline I gave them, with 3 major complaints against them, using Altarf's and Mr J's suggestions, so hopefully that will wake them up to their responsibilities, before I consider taking it further. Mind you, I've made it perfectly clear to them so far that I was acting on the advice of Consumer Direct and that hasn't shifted them. But I have a deep-seated dislike for companies that think they can do what they like and a whole range of options... small claims, credit card disputed purchase, advertising standards authority, bad publicity,....0
