Savings limit for SMI?

Hi, does anyone know what the saving's limit for the government help for martgages is, especially concerning savings in ISAs? I have heard a limit of £16k with a £6k disregard (?), but what does it mean. Is there a sliding scale where the benefit is reduced proportionally, or does it just get cut off at a certain level? Does the disregard mean the limit is really £10k or £22k?

No expert but I think full claim below 6K savings with a sliding scale to 16K when you don't get support. Not sure of the formula though0
