Absolutely.
And don't forget to tell all your friends and family about the scam.0 -
Thanks Sarah that was quick.
Just to put my mind at rest can any of you guys please post on here if you have ignored these PCN's from MET and they eventually left you alone.
Or alternatively where MET have taken it further.
Thanks0 -
I've never had one from MET but have had one in Scotland and one in Preston. Both times I got left alone after 3 months or so.
MET will NEVER take it further as they know they can't legally do anything. All they can do is hope you give in and pay, with all the demanding and threatening letters...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

My daughter went to a restaurant/cinema complex in Romford. As it was 9.45pm she thought she did not have to park. However had a ticket saying parked from 9.43 to/at 22.05pm and charging £50 if paid within the 14 days. I have read the OP and am intrigued if this is yet another private company trying to rip people off. Will they keep pursuing me? What a rip off!!!0

It sounds like a private car park so yep, they'll try chasing the Registered Keeper and generally give up after between 5 and 8 letters. They will each use scarier language and even coloured paper and chequered borders. Even the debt collectors who write are not real ones, all are different desks in the same office. They work on a percentage basis, the scarier the letter the more people will pay even though the PPC is not entitled to anything. The important thing to remember is
Do Not Pay
Do Not Contact
Do Not Reply to anything they send.
file all you get in a drawer and get on with your lives.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Met - seen them a million times. Just ignore the clowns.0

After receiving 6 or so snotty letters with increasing fines i've now received a letter from a debt collectors giving 7 days notice or they'll pass it onto their solictors.
I presume this is part of the scam and i can just ignore it like the rest ?
Cheers0 -
Yup, keep ignoring it.0

I agree with pogofish - the next letter will say they "may consider taking you to court".
When (if?) they issue real, stamped court papers, come back here for more advice - they rely on bluff.0 -
You guys were exactly right.
I received eight or nine letters in total, the last two from solicitors giving me 7 days notice of court action.
Nothing happened.
Thanks for the advice :T
By the way i didn't even buy anything at the MacDonalds i wouldn't touch their rubbish with a bargepole0
