Beacon application

I applied for a mortgage through Beacon on around 16th January and the property survey was completed on 23rd January. I received a copy of the valuation which was fine, and was told to make sure I would have the buildings insurance in place for when the offer would be made. I have found insurance etc so am ready. I have forwarded all information that was required ie bank statements, accountants certificate about 2 weeks ago. They have not asked for any further information.
I haven't heard anything since then, just wondered if this is normal? I have read on this forum that Beacon can take a long time but I'm going crazy with worry that I won't get a mortgage offer sometime soon and that the vendors will start to become uneasy about the length of time that they could take.
I'm a natural born worrier and I don't want to drive my broker mad by hassling him.

Well asking for an update isn't hassling him (unless you ask 10 times a day)

And he will be the only one who can give you an accurate response

You won't - he's paid to do things like answer your queries and chase the lender.
  • Yes that's true, I just wondered if anyone knew the typical length of time from application to offer.
I'm too much of a worry wort I think!

The broker should be keeping you updated at every stage, have they not provided you with an email address to allow you to keep contact?
  • I think he probably is keeping me updated as things happen, it's just nothing seems to be happening and I'm impatient!
I have emailed him this morning as I haven't heard anything for about 11 days now

I would have expected a little feedback from them in 11 days

Don't email him, call him and just ask for an update - or better still do both !

He is meant to be providing a service, so make sure he is

  • Have spoken to him, he didn't realise that it had been 2 weeks since the survey. He is going to ring for an update and call me this afternoon so fingers crossed!

    Don't email him,

Email is excellent for an audit trail & requesting receipts, I would never do business without this aid........
