just to add to my various posts, i have experience in various things,
however in recent job (last job i did ) i learnt things such as child protection, abuse, victims, support, self defence, first aid ect, - no certificates given but passed internal exams .
i finished this emploment, applying for other jobs, i called this last job to ask who i would put for name on references - they told me - it would be advisable if you never mentioned working in this place ?
is it not law to write ALL previous jobs ?
fed up and stuck
ive applyed for jobs in 2 different categories - those told and those i havent. im up s**t street. and had enough.
where do i go

What a bizzare thing to say ! Who were you working for, MI5????2016: No Clutter to Be Seen 805/2016

you would think so - but no i wasnt,0

I can only imagine that they were unhappy with your work, and so any reference would be unfavourable.
Contact anyone there who was friendly, and see if they could provide a reference.0 -
im stuck, as if i say who i worked for- a non reference or bad will come about ( i stole bar of chocolate 23 years ago), yet we all know how references can be wordered.
if i dont say and im found out they will want to know why, or more likly not even bother with my application.

thankyou Casati, no there wasnt any poor performance or anything, in fact voice of trainers would say otherwise, but i would never say where i worked.
i loved it though, just gutted at having to leave -
but stuck aswell
as if i dont say, i will be found out
if i do say, ( i always do say i have a criminal record now) jobs i apply for involve enhanced CRB.
MY CRIMINAL RECORD - I ADMIT I STOLE A BAR OF CADBURYS FRUIT AND NUT WHEN I WAS 17 -
but my g*d i still pay the price for it 23 years later0 -
Id be honest with your application. Mention the offence and say that you have regretted it ever since and you are not the same immature person you were back then. Going by your work record I think your next employer woud be glad to have you on board.0

There is no law that says you have to name all your previous jobs in an application.
Were you sacked/pushed to resign from your previous job because they discovered the undisclosed offence? If so, it would have been because you had not been open with them (OK you forgot but they don't know that is the case). A "minor" offence like that so long ago is not going to count against you for most jobs (including those working with children etc) so, if asked to declare any convictions, you should do so. But only do so when asked.
If you left the previous job because of the conviction being discovered, I guess you were not in the job for very long (that is the time it took for the CRB check to come through). So you may well be able to drop it from your CV in any case or say it was a temporary one. If you weren't there very long then a reference from an earlier employer where you were for much longer is more valuable to a prospective employer in any case.0
