2 ceiling lights in one room?

Has anyone got 2 ceiling lights in one room. My room is 14 sq m and there is track lighting on one side and pendant on the other. What would look nicer? The same but modern track or 2 pendant lights hanging opposite each other at same/different heights? I like to be energy efficient.
It will be half dining room/playroom so table will be against one wall (pendant is hanging over table at present).

I don't know if this in any help of not....
In our dining room we have 2 lights with a couple of shades to match the decor. In the lounge we have 3 lights with pretty shades (lapiz shells - which let a lot more light through than a standard shade) However I am guesstimating that these rooms are 24m2 and 42m2.
Does your room let in a lot of natural light (lol not the best question to be asking in the middle of winter!) I would imagine that you could get away with either one light with i.e. 3 bulbs or 1 pendant light with the sort of shade that lets the light come through - although going from 2 to one would probably be a lot of hassle... So I would go for 2 standard lights at the same height with matching shades.
It is a hard thing to judge without actually seeing the room iykwim?0 -
Why are you asking strangers what would look nicer. The choice as to what would look nicer, needs to be solely your decision. It is a purely subjective thing, if you think one looks nicer than the other then it is. What someone else thinks is neither here nor there.
Your decision should be based on practicality as much as anything, ie what do you want to use the lighted area for, etc.
Track lighting would enable the lights to be aimed specifically at particular points. Straight forward pendants would normally be used for general area lighting.
You pay your money and make your choice, other people's opinions should only be used to highlight problems or advantages of a particular scheme.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Hi well our kitchen diner is large and although a new build when we moved in they had put a horrid strip light in one end which came straight out! we had the 4 spot bulbs put in at the kitchen end so the light could be directed in different parts and the same at the dining end but 3 bulbs, looks really nice.
In the lounge we have 2 light fittings on the ceiling and have gone for just lampshades with cut out bits in brown suede as we don't really have them on,,more for show (at £15 each a lot for show but hey!)!! Really it is personal taste i guess and what you are going to use them for etc..0 -
I have eight (8) down lighters (two groups of 4) in dining room one, adjusted via two independent dimmers, (1) floor standing light (2 energy efficient bulbs) and a table lamp.0
