Posting a desktop PC

TheEffect

I've sold the base unit of a desktop PC on eBay and charged £20 postage. Now I'm concerned that RoyalMail aren't going to accept the parcel as it's quite large.
Does anyone know if I take the package to one of the post offices, whether they'll be able to post it via Royal Mail or possibly ParcelForce.
I'm not sure of the maximum package weight/height for both RoyalMail and ParcelForce.
I'm quite confused and realize I should have thought of this before selling the desktop.

Weight it and use the price finder (using packet as size option):

Or, better still, use interparcel:

Is interparcel covered under seller protection on Paypal?0

Definitely get it packaged up weighed so that you can look at your options before trundling down to the Post Office.
I have posted some pretty big and heavy items using my small local sub PO, so you should be able to send it using Special Delivery or even 1st Class Recorded if it is very low value.
Not sure if all Post Offices take ParcelForce or only the bigger ones. Somebody who uses that service may be able to confirm.
Worth looking at other couriers too, but if Royal Mail is OK on price it's usually less hassle than waiting in for a courier.0 -

I'm happy to spend upto £35 posting it. Hopefully I'll find a postal service for that price. I'll get it weighed up tomorrow and look at my options. Thanks all!0

£20.70 up to 10kg, insured up to £500.
Depends how heavy the computer is when packaged up.0 -

In answer to question you have no protection as buyer becasue you are paying for a service, but in relation to the ebay sale yes as they are merely go-betweens for DHL UPS etc. of which all are fully tracked.
For other courier options see this thread.
FreightSearch are marginally cheaper at £6.89+vat and have a late 1.30pm cut-off. PayPerParcel are also worth looking at.I'm happy to spend upto £35 posting it. Hopefully I'll find a postal service for that price. I'll get it weighed up tomorrow and look at my options. Thanks all!
Though you could send with a courier for £15 insured up to £500, fully tracked for next day delivery.0 -
