HSBC are infamous for this. My daughter lived in Hong Kong for over 2 years and they kept stopping her card. Every time she had to phone them up and they said " oh there was a suspicious transaction, a withdrawal in Hong Kong ). She told them to look back her transactions and they were all in HK but it didn't stop them doing it many times.travelover0

Cant you call from phone in hotel room or are you not in a hotel.same happened to me from Sri Lanka, took 3 phonecalls though ...arrgh!0

buy a phone card before calling the uk...the hotel charges will be steep0

Had Northern Rock do it once on a suspicious 'activity' trail. When I asked them to read out the activity they admitted that maybe their computers do flag it badly occasionally (history was something like Gatwick South Terminal Travelex, Gatwick South Terminal Duty Free, Sanford Airport, Universal Orlando)

Tesco block cards if you do more than 10 transactions at different stores in a single day also. Found that one out xmas shopping....0
