Quick question for any dog owners or those with knowledge - this week stripes has suddenly decided that sticks are fab to chew up. If I go near her she runs off and thinks it's a fab game! She's obviously eating some of the shredded stick as she has woodchip poop! Isn't this dangerous? What can I do? She comes back to me at all times unless she has found a stick! HELP!!
Our pup is obsessed with sticks :rotfl:
Teach her "swapsies" - she brings you the stick and you swap it for something nice, a treat or toy or something. Lola happily trots to OH and gives up her new best stick for a treat!Piglet

Pitlanepiglet - that's the problem....I can swap cans, bottles and lumps of grass with her but sticks are her prize procession!! I wonder if I could let her get them on a long lead and then rein her in and give her a big fuss and her treat for coming back. Worth a try! Thankyou xx0

Is she losing her babyteeth mudbath? maybe she feeld she needs something hard to chew on - dont know but would tend to agree that you dont want her to be eating the stick in case any bits get stuck! Does hse get hard chews at home like these hide things? Hope some of the others can give you a better answer - never had that problem with my woof.

She's a rescue dalmatian and she is the most totally fab puppy (well, 10 months now) ever (apart from our 12 year old cross breed of course!). She's not really called stripes...that's just her nickname!! Springer's are my DH's all time favourite breed. Dally's are mine and I won because she was a welfare pup and DH fell head over heals in love with her.
Toots - I'm going to google teeth and see if that could be the problem. She has a wubba and kong at home which she chews a lot. Actually, i'd better go and find them as she's 'hidden' them again!
Flying - done loads today so decluttering a glass of vino! xx0
