Painting Kitchen Tiles and Cupboard Doors

Hi there I jsut don't have the money for a new kitchen so was wanting to paint the tiles and the cupboard doors to freshen it up a bit.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this and if it looked ok. We were going to paint the cupboard doors, that are wooden, white and the tiles black and then re-grout over them.

Where is the best place to get the paint from, what else do I need and which are the best makes to use?

Thanks in advance for yoour help.:money:

If you do a search for "painting kitchen cupboards" on this forum, there were some posts about this recently where methods and paint advice were given.

Best advice I can offer is make sure you don't rush the preparation.

The cupboards will need a good rubbing down to allow the paint to "key", otherwise the paint will chip and flake easily.

I would agree with Ormus, painting kitchen doors can be OK, but rarely looks as good as if they were new. But painting tiles is a mistake, just looks like the kids did it I have found.

I agree, painting the doors can look fab, especially as they are wood.

Painting tiles is a big mistake. It mostly looks terrible and cheap, even done well, it's not great. I'd hang around in the DIY stores and look at the clearance sections hoping for a tile bargain. Tile paint isn't cheap anyway, I bet you could tile it for not much more.

I've had good results painting tiles.
Use a gloss roller, rather than a brush.
