how to move a fridge?

I want to move a fridge by car/van, specifically a wine fridge.

I see this involves a number of possible problems

http://www.fridgedoctor.com/fridge-doctor-book/tips-on-moving-a-refrigerator.html

I won't be able to move it upright, unfortunately. Any special advice, and is it better to put it on its side, or move in a tilted position (and if so, which position)?

Thanks ;)

To be honest, the link you posted gives you just about all the info you'll need. If, as you say, that you absolutely need to transport it on its side, then make sure the suction line is facing down, and just take it easy on the journey, i.e. no jerky steering or braking/accelerating.

Other than that, just make sure to leave it standing for a while when you get it to your destination. The website says to leave it for a few hours, but Ive always been told to leave for 24 hours, although this may be overly cautious.

My fridge is about 5 -6 years old now, and Ive moved it untold times during various rented house moves. Ive had no problems with it and its still working perfectly. Oh and my driving can be horrendous. :D

    Best of luck though.

Thanks. Do you reckon tho that it's better to transport it at 45 degrees rather than put on its side?

Well I guess that any degree closer to upright than completely on its side, would be better, but again, just make sure to angle it over so that the suction pipe is facing downwards.

Yeah, sure, but this is an expensive bit of kit too - over £1000 new.

And with a van it can go upright, surely? It will have to go tilted in our vehicle.

And is it worth putting padding underneath it for the springs?
