hi.. just doing a bump (sorry) re pension question.. also, for those who have worked there, am struggling to find a website that shows how much your take home pay is... there are a few calculators out there but they all throw up different figures and some you need to enter the tax amount yourself?!

can anyone help wtih first hand experience?

    THANK YOU!

    Taxation is dependent on earnings

Taking that your brother is a single male then hes tax free on the first 5k, then will pay 20% on all earnings up to 20k - there after he will be taxed at the higher rate of 42%. So his take home is all dependent on his earnings and tax code

    A link that may help

  • There is also a 1% income levy on gross earnings (in addition to income tax), payable since January 1st, 2009... :( .

And people still say that living in Dublin is no dearer then living in London??:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Dublin aint that expensive! We paid sometime like 6 euros for a double southern comfort and white and a bottle of WKD, and this was last week in a pub in the city centre! My OH is from Dundalk (10 minutes from border) and we regulary go up to Newry for the day and the prices aren't much different. Most places have reduced their prices (other than River Island!)

I'm moving in April and I'll be living in the south but working in the North, but it works out fine for me. We'll be paying 750 euros for a 3 bedroomed house as we need it for my OH's teaching. So good value there too

I'm moving on 24th April to work in Newry, ten minutes over the border. I'll be living in Dundalk, it's a lovely town and quite big too. Tell your brother he should try it, it's 40 minutes by car or train down a motorway to Dublin and only ten euro return!
