PPI MBNA - self employed

Options
About 12 years ago I applied for and received an MBNA credit card.

I was then and remain self employed, my occupation will have been detailed on the form.

I ticked the PPI box not knowing that it did not apply to the self employed.

I have been paying it since that time until I cancelled it 2 years ago because i was struggling financially.

What is the view on this, could I reclaim the PPI paid from 2003 to Oct 2006?

I have no statements dating back that far so I do not know how much i paid them but it will be into the £1000's i suspect as my balance was about £12K for a good 2 or 3 years.

Thanks folks x

Do your actual terms and conditions state it does not cover self employment as some do if you are paying class 2 NI contributions?

As regards not holding any statements do you still hold the agreement?

You could always request a SAR from them and they have 40 days to reply. There is a template on here if you want to use that one.

Also when was this FIRST applied to your account. Was it 12 years ago? This would be the date of your claim I would think. It would be from when it was applied on the agreement.

I asked them for my CCA 2 1/2 years ago - they sent me someone else's!!

But i did owe them the money and i cannot afford to play about with them so came to an arrangement re monthly payments. Clearly my total included the 12 years of PPI.

I will SAR them and see what comes back.

    Thanks

I can vouch that MBNA PPI conditions do state that PPI does not cover all aspects with regards to the self employed.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

There is a good thread here about MBNA and self employment on another site but it actually gives the terms and conditions of someones policy on self employment. I wondered if they were all different perhaps.
