Barbecue Wedding reception?

Just a thought, but I asked one of the venues I've viewed if the could give me a quote on a carvery for my guests (meat, veg, potato and gravy). They came back with under £20 and also included gateux for dessert, so it's worth asking your venue if they can tailor something for you. At least you'd have a few options....Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0

Has anyone on here ever had a Barbecue wedding reception?
After the 'rough' budget for venue, dress, shoes, make up, veil, 5 x suit hire and photographer we are at 13k._pale_ Thats not including flowers, bridesmaid dresses, decorations or extras.
Need to take some drastic action and I'm exploring all avenues. I've been to a wedding party but the couple got married in Mexico and had a reception party with a Barbecue when they came back.
Yes, I did the photography at one last September in Stamford Lincs. Very different and very tasy and probably cost a lot less than a normall function.
Good Luck;)0 -
We used a barbecue catering company for our wedding last year it saved us around £4000 compared to other food options we where given at the time.
It was pretty easy to arrange all we had to do was choose the food we wanted, give the company some information and pay a deposit, we orignally wanted a sit down meal but the cost was going to be masive and after looking at the bbq options this was by far the most cost effective sloution it ended up costing £14 per head.0 -
Have you looked at other venues for better quotes?
Some hotels do good packages. It's always worth shopping around, as it can give you a bit of haggling room.0 -
My OH's sister had a barbecue reception - burgers, hot dogs, chicken, veggie kebabs, grilled salmon, potato salad etc. It went down really well and really fitted in with the style of their wedding, which was very laid-back and relaxed."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0
