Summer experience (Opticians/Dentists)

i am looking to study medicine at university but obviously need endless amounts of experience.
what i am looking for is if anyone can recommend Opticians/Dentists in the Leicester area that would be good for gaining this experience.
i would like to be able to see how they work and what a typical day is for them.
If anyone knows someone that works in a Dentist/Optician and can strongly recommend them, maybe a member of family or family friend that may have a high reputation for work experience candidates.
As much help as poosible on this topic would be extremely greatful as i do not really know where i could look for this.
Thank you

If you're looking to get into medicine, another useful source of experience is work within a care home or similar, or hospital auxiliary work if you can get it. I know that's slightly OT but I thought it might be useful.
Otherwise, why not write to all of the opticians/dentists in the area asking about opportunities? You could just go through the yellow pages.0 -
Hi smitapabori
How about getting work in a local nursing home? My eldest son is in his 1st year studying Medicine and he worked one evening and all day saturday in a local Nursing home for 2 years whilst taking his A levels. All of the Med schools seemed to be impressed with this when he went for interview. He worked in the kitchen mainly, clearing up and taking meals and drinks round to the "patients" and their relatives. They have now offered him work in the holidays. Also there is a "hospital experience" 3 day course set up at our local hospital for prospective Medics when they have completed their GCSEs (check with your local hospital). My son arranged lots of other W/Experience himself - TB clinic etc
Good luck0 -
Believe me, experience not essential. Birmingham Uni will take anyone, to the point where they sit in the aisles in the lecture theatre as not enough room for all the 1st yr med students. But as long as they all pay their fees, they're in!0
