Tesco Home Insurance

During the course of seeking to renew my Building and Contents Insurance I came across an offer that Tesco currently have whereby if you are a Clubcard Customer you would get £50 voucher to spend at Tesco if you take out a policy other than their Value option.
Important to check the policy and cover provided but they quote that their standard and finest policies achieve 4 and 5 star ratings by Defaqto.
Might be worth a try - hope this helps someone.

Its not to bad a policy, it has received 4 stars on defaqto which is a good sign and that is in this years ratings. A lot of companies receive it in 2007 and keep quoting it even though they have changed their policy cover and got a lower rating!
Remember to shop around as at renewal you will not be getting the "New customer prices"0 -
Many thanks dacouch. Point taken regarding renewal. Tesco advise they retain payment details for automatic renewal but will advise of renewal price and an opportunity to cancel at the same time. I think they are hoping that customers are to lazy to check the price when renewal time comes up. They also include Family legal cover, for an additinal payment. I wondered as it includes motoring issues could I cancel the legal assistance I take out with my motor vehicle policy. Appreciate any advice on that one.0

I cannot read the "Standard" Tesco Policy as it only brings the "Finest" Policy when you select Standard.
Their Legal Cover in effect covers your family and the home (As do most domestic legal policies). It covers you for defence against motoring convictions and some personal injury claims eg you want too sue for whip lash. However it does not include anything else for your car so I would recommend you keep your seperate Motor Legal Protection as this will include things such as recoverying your excess and out of pocket expenses such as loss of earnings etc (Assuming you are not at fault and the third party can be traced). Their are other things as well that your Motor Legall Policy should cover.
In an ideal world have both policies running and then should you ever need to call on them they are in place.
P.S Most people do not realise their Home Legal Cover includes free Domestic Legal Advice for the cost of a phone call. This is very helpful if say you have a problem with something you buy, a builder or your employer. So if your ever not sure of your rights get your legal policy out and give them a ring for advice. Its amazing how peoples attitudes change when they realise you know your rights!
P.P.S HUKD areb saying Tescos give a 15% online discount for new customers and some of the people on the forum got their £50 voucher sent 2 or even 3 times by mistake! Probably won't happpen to you but you never know and as they say every little helps0 -
I am most grateful to you for your assistance. I'm afraid I've been a bit unwell and not accessed the forum for a while. Better now though.
Your certainly right about the Legal Cover I think I've been paying it without really appreciating what it could offer. Well you live and learn
I hope Tesco send me the voucher twice - as they say every little helps and I'm most grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to reply.0 -
If you look at a lot of the threads on the whole forum a lot of them would not have a problem if they had the legal cover as this would just sue for the compensation they want.
You get free legal advice as well which can come in very handy
If you don't use it then you have just brought some peace of mind, I have had quite a few clients who have used it for the legal costs including my parents0
