NoNameWoman wrote: »Evening all,
I went to bed crying last night....and all the mascara went on the pillows...:D
I don't believe in superstitions and no this was not on Friday the 13th but past midnight ...on the 14th:rolleyes:
My PC crashed down, and nothing would get windows to start in any mode....so all day today, I used the recovery disk which got stuck dozens of times...and shut down at least 30 times no joking.. All these hours I had to press the CD in the drive because it is also rubbish and won't read it or take off till the end...so after about 5 hours of nervousness and muscle ache just managed to get it back to life!!!
Luckily, the connection was still there but all my files are wiped offincluding my dissertation files, which I have saved elsewhere but some of them I have not updated for weeks
So... I have a lot of work to do now...all my effort over the last few weeks has gone to waste so this will teach me to save daily ...
Anyway....hope you are all having a great day with your loved ones....I have a new addition to the fish tank: a blackmoor! I also have a MUCH-NEEDED bottle of Reserve Shiraz....
I will have a shower and get back into work ..have not even done any of tomorrows' competitions..will also make it up to BF because I was in a bad mood all day....
Sorry I have written a newspaper I just needed to vent x
I just had a quick word with OH who is very clever with stuff like this, and he tells me that the only way to destroy the hard drive is to physically do so with a hammer or the like, so your information is still there somewhere and can definitely be recovered.
It would be an expert job and would cost a bit of cash but depending on how much you have not saved may be worthwhile?? He says don't take it to a PC World type set up but search locally for a Data Recovery expert.
I really hope this helps and you feel happier soonBut there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!0 -

Thank you everyone for all your support. I truly appreciate it. Stressesofdevon, many thanks for asking..it is re-assuring to know that these are somehow retrievable so I will just get on with work this weekend and ask the support desk at the uni on Monday.
Thank you again, I already feel better. x0 -

OMG!! Everyone I know loves Beckham!!
I mean look:
Whats not to like?
Theres better pics of him on google, but can't seem to copy them!!
Jamie Oliver is kinda cute and funny with his lisp, But Gordon Ramsay?!?!
ok Sally i can see some appeal in Mr Beckham... but i've heard him give interviews and things and his voice and 'simple' attitude puts me off a bit!!
lol... i mean a lot! and my thing with Gordon Ramsay has been going on for years LOL if i win the Ramsay comp (that ends tomoz i think) i may suffer a small heart failure due to excitment!!!!lol
talking of chefs and food... the OH has said we can have whatever takeout i want tonight but i cant decide what type to go for............
extra reason.... i prefer guys with hair ... usually darker hair lolI can only please one person a day.... Today is not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look good either!!very greatful for almost everything i read on MSE (except for the nasties!)0
