Daisyflower is right, if you had wanted to claim you would have expected the Insurer to pay out which is why they are asking you for the money.
Insurers take the view that you should be putting the money aside for the direct debit each month and if they do not collect the payments they should be saved aside for them. So that when it is noticed you can pay them immediately.
If you speak to them they may allow you to pay it over a couple of instalments to assist you.0 -
Under the Road Traffic Act the Insurers or their agents can only cancel the policy by sending a recorded deliver letter to the policy holders last know address. Therefore is they have not sent a recorded delivery letter out the customer is cover by the RTA certificate.
Really. May I ask which section of the Road Traffic Act specifies this?0 -
147 in conjuction with the relevant part of the Policy Wording outlining how the Insurer can inforce cancellation0

I agree Fisher Chris, its amazing how people won't sign for recorded delivery letters and won't call at the post office for them. Reflection on society I suppose as burying heads in sand over debt0
