i prefer the 5 things for £5 and sometimes 10 things for £5 sales where you can pick what you want, one year i got some handbags, hats and bigger bits which were around £12 an item full price but i got around £60 worth of stuff for a fiver

The Claires outlet store in Bridgend often has 10 items for £5 in the sale. You can pick the 10 items yourself. Brilliant value and it includes the bigger stuff on top of the sale stands (like handbags, jewellery boxes, nail polish sets) but most people seem to ignore them.

Last time I bought I had some lovely jewellery stands and sterling silver earrings and belts in my 10 items. When I added up I had over £60 worth of goods and DD was sorted for her friends Xmas presents.

I've never bought the goodie bags as they are always open in my local Claires and I can see what tat is in them. I'm sure the kids swop them about to get a decent bag.

sorry, didn't read this before i posted :o

  • my daughters bought two of these today and they had gr8 stuff in htem although were arguing over who gets to keep the camp rock baseball hat and fluffy earmuffs lol
  • My mum bought bags for my girls today - the younger ones bag was perfect for her - lots of wee girlie things: a mini snow globe, a pink stationary set, a ankle braclet, earrings, a nice purse, a few necklaces and a bunny key ring.

My 10 year old wasn't quite as impressed mostly jewellery which was a bit "old" for her some leg warmers, a ring that she did love and other bits. To be fair both bags were really good value and I would definately buy again maybe to split up into kids pressies!

We have had these several times over the last couple of years for my daughter who will be 10 in March. I used to buy them and make up party bags from them for her birthday. All her mates were very happy with them and it was a great way of providing cheap party bags.

My DD is 7, she got one yesterday, she loves the contents.

She got some slipper socks and hair slides which were too young/small for her, but she also got sunglasses, mini photo-clips, spongebob bobbles, 2 pairs of earrings, 2 lovely necklaces, and a hairband. She is well chuffed!

I'd agree with others though, older girls might not be quite so impressed.

Claire's used to do bags without earrings but I have not noticed any the last couple of years, I will not now buy any of the bags because none of our family has pierced ears nor any of dd's friends and the bags normally have at least a couple of pairs (even if it was clip on earrings it would be OK). I have bought loads of things before in the sale at 10 for £5, but I think I must have missed that this year.
  • Just got a bag for DD in St Enoch's branch, Glasgow and she was well pleased with the HSM postcard set, a cute mobile cover with a cat on it, a couple of hairbands, fluffy bunny ears, 'best friends' necklace and a really nice necklace strand (rrp £6 ) which I pinched!
