‘Events, dear boy, events' as Harold MacMillan said once.
We have no control over our futures sometimes. Mine went wrong when was made redundant in 2005 and I'm still trying to get to the financial position I was then. So all the loans I got then can't be paid now so BR here I came (thanks to HSBC, so its not costing me anything!)"What does not kill you makes you stronger"0 -
Or as John Lennon said. " life happens when you make other plans " Neverindebtagain, You say it doesnt feel right, but it is everybodys legal right to go BR. You have excerised that right. Dont feel guilty, because the alternative to BR doesnt bear thinking about. Remember the calls, letters, threats pre. BR. I am sure your life now is much better. Move on with your new life.0

Also if the banks were more willing to negotiate sensible repayment options and not make so many charges many people wouldn't have to go bankrupt.

Don't feel guilty. Before my ex OH went BR 2 years ago, they hassled him constantly. He offered them a repayment plan which would have meant that they would have got ALL their money back by next year, instead his life was made hell, his only option was BR so now they receive a lot less than the full amount. If only they had been more accommodating in the first place...Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Exactly what I say. HSBC and I could have come to mutually beneficial solution, but they handed it over to Vertex who have issued BR proceedings so none of my creditors will get paid in full. Banks are so thick!!"What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

Something I can't get my head round - why make someone BR and not come to some arrangement...? They lose out through BR. All seems a bit daft to me...but then that's me...!

Its been 9 weeks since I went br and I must admit now my husband is getting pestered it brings it all back.
One thing I find hard is how quiet it is, nobody calls for me chasing money and very rarely do I get any statements asking for money through, mainly the catalogues do this. I have had several letters from EVERSHEDS is that normal.yes i had loads from them. As soon as the original creditor smells a rat they sell your debt on quick. Eversheds is such a company that buys your debt at a fraction of the amount, in "bulk" and hopes to recoup some back:p .I just bundled mine up and sent them to the OR.
Can I ask a question which will probably sound stupid but apart from what the OR wants to take from me or punish me with i.e BRO/BRU is it over, am I know safe and debt free and the creditors not touch me.yes NIDA,they can not send anybody round, they can not demand anything,in fact they should not be having any contact with you whatsoever. You are debt free:D .dX
I cannot believe that I have had this debt for many years and now its gone. It doesnt feel right.
It takes a while but it does eventually sink in. When you have lived wth debt for so long it becomes a normal, habital thing. Bit like having a 8 seater table in a small kitchen,,you get used to dodging past it,seeing it there, eating off it. Then when you get rid of it the kitchen looks strange, feels strange but you do eventually get used to not having it there.
Not sure when i get my examples from, must have a few weird brain cells but i hope you get my drift:rotfl:Free impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau
