1st Time Buyers House Insurance.

As first time buyers i now have the task of buying bricks mortar and contents insurance. Any help would be really nice.
We are only looking for basic cover but want it as CHEAP as poss!

Do not buy it from your mortgage providier as this is normally the most expensive option.
If you are first time buyers I would recommend you include "Accidental Damage" Cover which will add about 5% to the premium. This gives you much wider cover and includes cover when you do the inevitable DIY eg banging a nail into a pipe.
Have a look on some comparision sites, don't just buy the cheapest as it is not always the best. Look for reviews on the Insurer before you make a decision (There is plenty of feed back on here on Insurers). Swift Cover get bad reviews on here so it might be worth giving them the swerve.
You will probably be surprised at how cheap the Insurance comes out (I would recommend you also take out contents cover).
It would be worth shopping around on your life insurance as if you have taken the mortgage providers you will almost certainly be paying over the top0
