Hey ladies and jelly-men,
So i started reading this forum and it got me thinking i should really start looking into things and after nearly losing my wedding venue (someone had provisionally booked but later changed their minds) i am determined to plan things for what i want and not what i have to accept because iv left it so late!!! So......
Im looking for some information with the plans for my wedding:-
1. 'Foam Flowers' - My mother-in-law to be has a very good friend who does flowers, invitations, favours you name it! She has offered to do my bouquets for me and my bridesmaids and i quite like the look of foam flowers but i dont have much info on them what is the difference between them and silk flowers??? And would they hold fragrance better than silk flowers????
2. Favours - I am really loving the favours mentioned on another thread where it is little bottles of perfume which are used! For those who are using this idea can you please tell me how you are presenting these???
3. Does anyone know how a wedding day should run such as when does the speeches take place and should we save the cake cutting until the evening guests arrive??? I know everyones wedding is difference but id really like a general idea as to how it should go!!!
Thank you in advance for all suggestions and im sure i will come up with even more questions once i get going!!!!

Foam flowers are amazing!!!
I had to go for the fake option, as we are travelling 80 miles to the venue, I like everything done well in advance and most importantly, they are so much cheaper :money:
They honestly look 10 times better than silk flowers and they hold a fragrance - I tested by favourite perfume on some of my table decs.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. the timings of the day are upto you
a few weddings i have organised had the speeches before the meal and the cake cutting staright after the meal:
a typical wedding would be
ceremony
photos
welcome drinks
canapes
meal
speeches
evening reception
cake cutting
1st dance
buffet
as i said these can be changed into whatever order you want

it is up to you how long you want the photographer their for.
we didnt want to cut our cake until the evening so our photographer took a photo of us pretending to cut the cake, then left.
our videographer stayed until the speeches which we had before the meal.

I got all mine from ebay - 40 ivory and 40 gold foam roses for around £32
That gave me enough to make 14 table decs, flower girl wands and a few left over to decorate our 'wedding post box' :j Just bought ribbons, pearls, baby's breath, butterflies etc to accessoriseCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. We're doing things a bit different for our wedding. We're going to have the speeches before the meal. Basically because we'd like to enjoy the meal without those making speeches being nervous etc.
Our photographer will stay for the speeches and leave before the meal. I think we may do a 'fake' cake cutting when we do our other photos. Our videographer is going to stay through our meal (probably go have a drink at the bar) and film our first dance, and part of the 2nd dance.
You can pretty much arrange your day however you want! Speak to your wedding venue and ask them what they have done in the past and what order works well etc.0 -
Hi,
we had our speeches before the meal because my father requested it, he wanted to be able to relax! Lol
With the cutting of the cake, our photographer had left by then, but we got so many pics from friends, we have loads of great memories, so don't forget about all your mates taking pictures we have nearly 1,000 wedding photos now, and they are all on the computer, so we can chose which ones we want to print.
Good luck and enjoy, I loved my wedding day and would do it all again (with the same man! )Leopardlady
