I have only till Tuesday to find a better quote than LloydsTSB for my home contents insurance but online i get knocked back just because i had a flood about 4 or 5 years back.
How am i supposed to get insured if they wont insure me because i had one claim because of freak weather conditions. there has only been 2 floods in about 50 years here how the hell can insurance companies refuse you insurance.
What can anybody that has been flooded do regarding getting insurance, id even sign something saying i wouldnt make a claim if we got flooded again just so the contents of my house got insured, thats how confident iam of not getting flooded again.

Can you not stay with Lloyds TSB for insurance? Most people who have claimed for flooding are finding that the only way to remain insured is to stay with their previous insurer. The man without a signature.0

Yes m8 looks like we are going to have too. i just think its a disgrace that because we have been flooded we are blacklisted from getting a better quote elsewhere.
I could easily just clicked on no i have not been flooded but that would have been a lie, it just shows being honest gets you nothing in life.0 -
It is all a risk game.
If you have made one claim insurers think it is more likely that you will make another claim (which could be for something completely different).
This is the way the system works and you must remember that nobody HAS TO insure you.
If you were dishonest the insurance company would find out if you ever needed to claim and it would void your policy. So you would be no better off.
Have you tried a high street broker that deals with many companies. I have found they can sometimes achieve what I can not online.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good
When you are done moaning remember that there are people who would love to have your standard of living!0 -

No i haven't Truepat
Yes i know if i didn't declare it i could be found out i just think its a disgrace that they can refuse you just because you have had one flood.
I feel heartly sorry for these poor people who get flooded all the time they have no chance.
As ive stated further up id sign an agreement stating if we got flooded we wouldnt claim but everybody neads contents insurance in case of theft or accidental damage.0 -
It's an unforar and tough situation.
Luckily for me Lloyd's actually offered me more cover for a lower premium than my old insurer, and the post office talked me into getting a quote which was also higher/less cover, so I'm happy staying put.
Hope you find a way to bring your premiums down.A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -

You appear to contradict yourself. I'm not saying this to be nasty, but your post really isn't clear, and in a way that makes a big difference to things.
Are you saying that companies are refusing to insure you at all??
Or are you saying the automated systems they use on the website don't give you a quote, but instead ask you to contact the insurer by phone or whatever?
If the latter, what happens when you contact them?
A lot of these automated systems are only set up to deal with very basic and simple orders / quotes / whatever and you simply have to speak to a human if you step out of the website's comfort zone. That isn't a refusal to insure you, it's a dumb automated system knowing where it's limits are.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

I agree - I think that this is what is happening. The OP needs to ask a human being for a quote.YouGov: £50 and £50 and £5 Amazon voucher received;
PPI successfully reclaimed: £7,575.32 (Lloyds TSB plc); £3,803.52 (Egg card); £3,109.88 (Egg loans)0 -
We did phone up CIS and as soon as he asked about flooding and we said yes we have had it happen to us he stopped what he was going to say and said sorry we cant insure you because of this.
I also tried using https://www.gocompare.com and everything was going great but as soon as i clicked on where it said have you had a claim for flooding in the past and i clicked yes it searched and every one came up with cant insure because of flood risk. There was no option to phone the companies up it flatley said cannot insure due to flood risk.0 -
Is the flooding you had flash flooding eg a very very high amount of rain that the local drains could not handle or a river flood.
Insurers often regard the two as different as a river flood will normally return where as a flash flood caused by rain is often a one off. The councils normally pull their fingers out and clear the drains etc.
If it is a flash flood reply on here and I can help you get reasonable quotes (Can you advise us how long ago it was and the approximate cost)
Alternatively the previous OP gave you good advice be saying see a broker, I would add to this by saying seeing a local broker as they often have local knowledge that means they can persuade some insurers to accept you.0 -
I'd still contact a few of them directly or go to a real live broker rather than go through comparison sites - these are even more "dumb" to the nuances of particular insurers than the insurer's individual website. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0
