"Hot" and "cold" buttons on bathroom taps - can these parts be replaced?

The ceramic screw-in button on my bathroom sink hot tap has cracked and come loose. Is it possible to replace just these tiny parts or would I need to buy new tap fittings? If I need to buy new then does anyone know if these parts are standard sized, ie could I buy a cheap tap set and take out the 'hot' and 'cold' buttons. Do these parts even have a name - 'button' is the best way I can describe them but as I don't know the technical name of the part I can't even google for help!
Thanks in advance for any help you can give

They tend to change size from tap to tap. Your best course of action would be to go back to who you got the taps from and see if they can order them for you, or at least give you the manufacturers details.
If you don't know where they are from, then the only way to find new ones would be to take one of the old ones with you and match them up to other taps, bearing in mind some are screw threads, some are push in, but the sizes can vary accordingly. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Thank you. I bought them quite cheaply at a local plumbing shop so chances are I won't get parts. The thing I want to avoid is needing a plumber to refit new taps. so the best bet may be to take the remaining 'buttton' with me and see if I can get a close enough match0

You should still be able to get spares for them, no matter how cheap they are. The REALLY cheap taps we used to sell had the "identifiers", as one supplier calls them, available for a few pence.
Pop back to the shop and I'm sure they'll sort you out or at least tell you who the manufacturer is. If you have any problems, give me a shout. If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
