Argos & Ipod Mini

  • I'm currently waiting for them to send a written reply, if they still refuse to honour my statutory rights I guess I'll have to take them to the small claims court. As much as I want the thing working I don't consider 16 days to examine if it is faulty and if it can be repaired appropriate, especially if they decide it can be repaired which'll add X number of days on to the 16 days before it's resolved. And if they can't fix it they said they'll only give Argos Vouchers - strangely I don't want to purchase anything electrical from them again.

Hmm, sounds like you will probably be avoiding Argos for a while!?! Could you not send it back to the manufacturers and see what they say?!

  • There is always that option. i just don't like the way Argos can just ignore the law as they see fit though.

Apples customer service is non existent. I have had loads of problems with an ipod 20 gb within the guarantee period. Apple only give a 3 month limited warranty with the ipods. They replaced it the first time it broke with what I was told was a new one. Turned out to be reconditioned. The final time it broke a few weeks out of the 12 months guarantee they refused to do anything even though it was the same problem. I wrote to their head office and never even recieved a reply and got practically evicted after causing a fuss in the Trafford Centre shop. Eventually trading standards told me to claim from the company that sold it to me (not Apple) they gave me £120 part compensation and have sent my ipod to see if it can be repaired. I will never buy another Apple product again and neither will my kids. For such a large company their customer service is disgusting.
  • When my I-pod mini went wrong I had to send it back to Holland. Apple paid for a courier to pick it up and send it back. They do not actually repair it but send you replacement.

I had to send mine away and the process took no more than 5-10 days
  • My situation is all resolved now. I'd BCC'd the letter I sent to Customer Service to their MD. Had a very pleasant call from a someone in his office the day after they received the letter and accepted their offer of a full refund in Argos vouchers and an apology.
