I am looking for Dell laptop......
What is the major difference between Inspiron & Studio?
[the specs I am looking for come for the same price] and so can't decide
The only difference I can spot is the graphics card...Studio comes with 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450 whereas inspiron comes with Media Accelerator !
Your advice is much appreciated!

Dedicated graphics are always better. the integrated media acelerator will use part of the system memory where the dedicated will have its own memory.
Unfortunatly you have just given the ranges of the laptops you are considering not the model number so we can't check out why the better studio laptop is the same price as the inspiron.
I do see that the inspiron 13 is about the same price as the studio 15 but at the prices it comes with a lower spec cpu. and you tend to pay more for smaller screen laptops (ignore the netbook thing)0 -

Bottom line is that Inspiron is the entry level range of laptops. Studio is the mid range and XPS is the top end range. There's also a new Studio XPS range offering a mix of top end features. What makes it confusing though is that there's often some crossover between the ranges in price which is mainly down to processor and screen differences.
The main difference though as you've spotted is that the Studio range has more beefed up graphics than the Inspiron range so if you plan to play any newish 3D games or do lots of graphic design/video editing work then you should be looking at the Studio range.
If you're just going to be doing a bit of web surfing and basic document work then the Inspiron is better value with the blu ray player and bigger hard drive. But the Studio has a faster hard drive and better graphics.Prof planning and public rights of way person. Studies all things tech!0 -
I bought my son a Studio15 back in October from the Dell Outlet store.
Being the 1st Dell laptop I've bought, I have to say it a nice looking machine.
Is the Blu Ray drive something you really need?Dave. :wave:0
