Paris Hilton's credit crunch advice

I've just had myself a nice, relaxing, bubble bath with a cup of tea and Mrs Cleaver's Heat magazine for a spot of light reading (told you all I was meterosexual). Paris Hilton has a new column and I thought I'd share her views on the credit crunch in the grand tradition of sharing articles by intellectual economists on this board:

"It's really scary about the economy right now. So the way I'm playing my part in helping is doing a lot of shopping wherever I go. I think a way for people to get by in this economy and still be fashionable is to go to Topshop, because they have really cute clothes at great prices."

Now, this is her first ever column for Heat magazine but I think it's going to become a weekly event, so there's plenty of time for this to develop in to quantitve easing, macroeconomics, neolibralism and foreign exchange reserves.

You lot on here don't really strike me as Heat's target audience (especially the likes of Dopester, Amclusent and Asheron as I see them more as OK or Grazia's market demographic) but there are plenty of other interesting articles this week including a debate whether Jessica Simpson is 'fat' or 'curvy' (interestingly, 'untalented pile of sh*te' isn't an option), the fact that ripped jeans are very much back in for 2009 (which is good news in one way for me as I have a pair, but I've been wearing them for at least 6 years so I've looked like a member of Bon Jovi since 2003) and an interview with former Blue boy band member Duncan James where he reveals that his favourite TV snack is olives and some salted popcorn. Presumably not together, but tantalisingly the specifics are not revealed, so we may never know.

Oh, I dunno. One of the best snacks ever is shortbread with primula cheese. Not now that I'm doing the live on 4k for a year obviously but generally.

(Thanks for shopping for me, Paris).

Blimey, you know you're cutting back when primula cheese is considered a luxury out of your economic reach.

As a man who also appreciates a quality shortbread you have gained my respect.

Well now, isn't Paris just doing what some people are advising to get us out of the economy doldrums, i.e. shopping?

Sounds like a sensible lass to me.

As for Duncan James, he was the good looking one in my opinion. That's all I can offer on that subject.

Primula cheese? Another glass of wine and I'm sure I'll be gagging for it ....

Wow, fellow members of the shortbread appreciation club I appreciate your posts. Shortbread IMHO must always be made with butter, never butter substitutes and should not be too sugary on top.

Incidentally, I am such a fan of shortbread that I used to take it on holiday with me. That is until I tried to take it to Paris on the Eurostar and got stopped when the thick shortbread fingers looked to the officer like the right shape to suggest I was smuggling drugs on the case scanner. Oh the shame of having ones knickers rifled at 8.15 in the morning. Never again.

Edited to add: should probably mention that I was going to Paris (the city) on the Eurostar, not taking the shortbread to Paris Hilton. Though she could be a fan too...

I'm sure Mr James will be delighted at your eagerness.

He was able to sign his own name instead of just a shaky 'x' like the other three members, so he was classed as the 'intelligent one' too.

That's quite an intelligent, interesting post by your standards Bo. Have you been secretly practicing on other forums?
  • Yes, Great stuff. Paris Hilton doing her bit and helping the economy by spending Daddys money at clothes stores. Yeah, cheers. High five for all the spoilt brats in the celebrity world. Can I turn my heating up now then?
