Was this "electrician" friend really an electrician ?
If he was a real electrician he would be able to tell if it was the meter or the clock.
If it is the clock and i presume you mean the clock to control the hot water then they are quite expensive about £60 mark.
If its a fault with the meter which is in effect a radio timeswitch then your supplier would replace/repair this for free as it is their equipment.
If you called your supplier they would probably come out and check it and i don't think they would charge you either. But i think it unlikely it will be a fault on this i have never been out to one but who knows.0 -
It's a clock that feeds the economy 7 heaters....the thing is it's a flat i rent out and the tenants did a moonlight flit last week and i've just spent all weekend cleaning up after them (after 5 years of being great tenants they both got made redundant and turned into pigs!!!) i've got a deposit from them...but this electric economy 7 clock isn't working and i haven't gotta a clue who to contact to get it replaced??? MEB??0

I would contact your electricity supplier.0

Think you need to get it checked out by an Electrician and as Matbe says one will be able to tell you whats at fault,As your "Electrician" friend does not have been much help really. The clock/timer belongs to you and it will be at your expense to get it repaired/replaced if it is indeed the timer.OH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! Thats it, i don't have one yet, the tenant only left last week so do i just contact any supplier and explain the situation?0

You are not making sense,Has the timer been ripped out? With Economy 7 your property has 2 electricity meters off and on peak,The supplier is responsible for the meter but no further along the line. There will be no timer with storage heaters apart from the radio signal the supplier sends to power them up off peak.Your supplier will tell you to call an Electrician to determine who is at fault if it turns out to be the suppliers equipment then they will fix it for free but you still have to pay the electrician you could try it the other way around.OH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! sorry
I'll start again
the clock which powers the economy 7 heating isn't working. It's not a radio one it's a round dial which turns round. It's stuck at 5.15pm
Now i have no supplier because the tenants left the place in a tip last week. so i only got back in last week.
So is this clock my responsibilty then?? it's next to the meter outside if it makes it any different??0 -
Your friend is probably right.
Older setups used to have a separate timer supplied by the electric board when they fitted an economy 7 package. Used to be simple, the board owned and were responsible for the lot.
Nowadays no one will be responsible, but talk to the electric provider first, and see what they say.

No its the suppliers responsibility,Phone one of them up N-Power,Southern Electric etc and they will tell you who supplies your property.
You still have a supplier even with no tennants,The suppliers want you to join them!!OH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! Can Travel,Will Work For Free!0 -
