Hey all
Not really a gardening question, but I thought you guys may be able to help with my query.
I have bought a pair of cheap wellies to use occasionally (8 days/per month approx) for work - outdoor stuff in woods etc.
But they are a tad too tight at the top on my ever so slightly chunky calves
Is there anyway I can stretch them easily? Or could I put a little cut in the top?
Thanks in advance

Try stuffing each with a srong bag filled with water, and putting them in the freezer. In theory the welly will stretch when the water freezes and expands.0

thanks.
I'm not sure that they will fit in the freezer though!
I may well do what you suggest and put them outside tonight as it's cold enough.

my daughter has the same problem as you, the only wellies that fit her calfs (spelling?) are hunters at £53 so thats not happening.... the woman in the shop said buy a cheap pair and cut the tops off to just below the part of your calf where its tight.
I guess thats ok if you are not going into town in them or it may look a little strange, dont know not tried it...

muck boot co wellies are even better as they have a neoprene top section, these are the best wellies I have ever worn by far, so warm & comfortable & last for years. BUT look at £40-£60. If you must go for hunters/ huntress you should be able to get them for £35-£40, but try ebay for free ads for second hand pairs still with plenty of wear0

Also try fishing shops for wellies - they tend to be big with generous amounts of room with neoprene liners, and although the top brands cost stupid money the budget brands can be almost as cheap as 'bog standard' wellies.0
