Can I switch E.on tariffs whilst I wait to change suppliers?

We are on the old Economy 7 tariff with E.on and have finally woken up the fact that we would be better off switching to British Gas who already supply our gas.

The thing is it will take 28 days to switch and I was just wondering if it was possible to switch to a cheaper E.on tariff in the mean time?

I know it sounds a bit cheeky but every little helps and they have certainly had enough out of us over the years.

You could ask - do you mean change from Econ 7 to a single price tariff? I'm assuming you do, and some suppliers change the meter and charge you for this - not sure if Eon charge or change it for free.

When I rang E-on to pay my last bill they said that I could change tariffs and that I wouldn't need to change my meter.

This was before I looked into it all and decided to switch to British Gas.

Yes, it would be from economy 7 to a single price tariff. I did think about asking them now but I didn't think they would agree as I'd have to admit to changing suppliers.

Just email them and ask. I have found they are very helpful when you email.

Hi,

You can change from economy 7 to a one rate tariff with E.ON and you won't need to have a meter change.

Even though you are thinking of changing supplier, they will do this for you.

I'd call them or email and just request the change, this can be done straight away and you will be billed on a one rate tariff.
