  • I opened an eBay shop last year. By the time the absolutely ridiculous eBay fees had been taken into account as well as Paypal fees I was only just managing to break even.

Like others have said, depends on what you're buying and selling. I got stung badly a couple of years ago buying a job lot of expsneive makeup that 'should' have sold for X on ebay but just didn't and I ended up spending £1200 and got back just £800 of that. A good lesson though! If you have a good idea what sort of thing you want to sell then start off buying in a small amount and see how you go.
  • I made £20 last week just selling a few old clothing items that dont fit me. :) Only thing i hate is the trecking to the post office in the SNOW!! lol

Don't forget though, if your buying to sell, then the taxman want's his little bit too.

So ebay fees, paypal fees, taxman ... hope you have a good item!
  • I have tried this and unless you have a very unique / creative idea, not worthwhile. Also, if you do have a good idea, best to have more ideas later on as within a month or two, there will be copy cat sellers.

I have actually had my products sold to one person who then listed my items as hers and resold them (scrapbooking / card maker).

So, I am not a fan.
