EDF: "Price comparison websites are no good now."

An EDF man just knocked at my door and told me price comparison websites were handy three or four years ago, but are misleading now (they're doing deals with other providers or something). You should check with suppliers directly, apparently.

I live in the EDF distribution area, but switched to the Scottish Power discounted online tariff last year. (Yes, the direct debits have been rising - although I fought off one of them.)

The EDF man says it makes sense to go back to EDF because they're the real supplier and will be cheaper. A case of he would say that wouldn't he?

Agreed... and they shouldn't be saying that on the doorstep... surely that's mis-selling?

Absolute rubbish, the regional suppliers are usually the most expensive as they arent allowed to undercut the competition, just ring EDF and ask to go on their online 6 tariff, you will be told you cant because thats not available in your region.

I would believe a comparison site a hell of a lot more than I would some idiot that knocks on my door, the comparison sites a far more regulated than someone that knocks on a door and has no record of what they say.

Dont trust anyone that wants to sell you anything at your door.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)
