using credit card to pay holiday balance.

hi there ,
shortly i have to pay the balance for an upcoming holiday .
i would like to pay it off using my credit card ...since my credit card offers incentives for usage ....

however i have been told that the travel company will charge me an addiitonal 2.5% if i pay by this method....since the balance is for 3000 pounds this works out at another 75 pounds...

can anyone think of a way around this .....

cheers

  • If you have an egg card transfer a sufficient amout to your bank account and then pay by debit card or cheque?

If you pay by credit card then you will gain benefits of whatever the card issuer offers for usage (airmiles, cashback etc), You will also have the protection offered by the CC company if the travel agent goes bust - your call if this is worth £75.(be worth checking if there is a maximum charge made for credir card payments - Thomas Cook used to be 2%, max £50)

I did this recently - paid for my £3000 holiday through thomas cook - there was a 2% charge maximum £50 - I did this during the 2% cashback period with egg money so will get £60 back.
