Shower not turning on

Apologies if not in the correct part of MSE, pretty new to this!!

My electric shower won't turn on. Last year we replaced the pull cord/box thing ( sorry no idea what it's called!!) as last one caught fire  - did that myself with no probs. Now on pulling, the light doesn't come on shower so therefore shower won't turn on.

Is it likely to be a fuse problem? And if so is it in the pullcord box thing, or on the main wotsit under the stiars cupboard -( have already looked though and there isn't one marked as being for the shower). Or might it be the shower itself and can we do anything ourselves ( sorry myself, DH doesn't do this kind of thing) or is it better to call someone out ( at expense plus hassle ever getting anyone, alongside the oh it's a woman lets pretend it costs 3x as much, she won't know )

Am away for the weekend and will pick up any replies Monday evening, TIA!
Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
