I was hoping that if the offer is accepted, then we could have all the work done by end of August. Is that overly optimistic?

Not overly optimistic but you'll find that these things always run over. The issue will be the timescale for buying and also finding a builder ready to commence work at the right time for you.

Hope for August, expect Christmas and you'll be fine!

I'm a London girl too, but life is better away from it, especially with kids. Don't mean to sound preachy - life was good there but better here. :o We swapped the prospect of a small house in Greenwich for life here. Still love Greenwich though and every time we go back to London I make my list of where our bolthole will be, after kids! It's all about location there.

So where did you move to?

Sometimes I am tempted but both of us work in central London so we need to commute and my family live not too far away so help with the kids....we just moved back from overseas in August, so we're still settling in. We're in East London right now and can't stand the area!

Well we live in Worcestershire now, near enough to Birmingham to seek out civilisation in the form of Selfridges!

It all fell together really. We have our own business which works as well here as it would have done in London and I'm really very lucky now that I have another part time job working from home for a big bank :) It's not as much as I earned in London but I am honestly stunned when my paycheck arrives that they pay me to balance my life perfectly and be happy! Work in London was totally different and I virtually had to pretend that DS didn't exist. Perhaps it was the industry though.

People live in London for the money but it was clear immediately when we moved out that we felt more affluent. Wages may be a bit lower but you can have a lovely house, great schooling and lots of free things that just make you feel richer out here. We saw a great big bird of prey on the way back from school yesterday. (still a Londoner though - I have no idea what it was called and have previously been informed that what I thought was someone's escaped parrot was actually a woodpecker :o)

Having family near is always important though.

    .

That really made me giggle. I am a northern country (ish) girl and it is hard to comprehend that not everyone has Kestrels circling the car every day or tractors and cows as daily observations.

London scares me though and i have only been once and was scared - too fast and noisy and concrete like.

Can see the appeal though - living in the sticks is a bit restrictive.

    Still chuckling:rotfl:
It's not paranoia if they really are after you.

An estate agent's dream come true would be cash buyers prepared to pay somewhere close tot he asking price. :p

The astute Estate Agent sells them something else if the original deal fails.
