I'm CeMAP qualified thanks very much.

You aren't supposed to refer to being an adviser unless you have a signature - you're breaking the rules of the forum at the moment.

Mortgage Advisers' signatures. If mortgage brokers want to add a signature about being a broker to their post it should be
    I am a Mortgage Adviser

You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as financial advice.

This should be the only text in your signature. There should be no other notes or hyperlinked text. Mortgage Advisers who choose not to use the signature should not indicate they are brokers in any other way within their posts.

I think he should respect the terms of the contract that was entered into by both parties in good faith.

He asked, fair play. He was told no. He then comes here for a loophole to get out of his contract. Thats where I have a problem.

As for whether I am trading or not, if you not going to accept I am qualified then I certainly arnt going to tell you anything else about my work.

As for breaking the rules, he asked me the question, I answered it.

I am kicking myself as I have 3 years to go on a fixed with Nationwide and am paying £322 a month 40 K (outstanding amount) I was thinking of looking into the fee to get out of the deal but reading this post I don't think I will bother.

You'd previously referred to the fact that you're an adviser. I'm merely telling you about the rules of the forum you've signed up to.

I didnt, until I was asked.

Although I will give you the fact that I did hint at it.

I dont want another arguement on my hands, so I sincerly apologise for stating my qualifications against the rules. I'll know not to next time.

I wasn't looking for an argument - just wanted to let you know the rules, that was all. Sorry if it sounded otherwise. Why don't you add your signature and then you won't have to spend time justifying what you're saying?

My Nationwide 5 year fixed rate of 5.2% expires May 2010 I have £63500 and about 16 years outstanding.
My early redemption charge is £850, swopping over to the Nationwide SVR of 3% would reduced my payments by about £100 a month.
I was going to enquire next week about paying the £850 charge to move onto the 3% SVR . I currently overpay £125 a month and I would use the extra £100 to overpay £225.
After reading this thread would I be right in thinking Nationwide would not allow me to move to the SVR ?

i'm afraid MSE is like this. you do actually get "useful comments" most of the time, as was the case with the comments you already received.

there are 2 things that then happen.

    1. the tone in which they are delivered is nothing short of frosty, often pedantic and nearly always delivered in a superior, 'we are better than you' manor. when someone makes a technical mistake in the details of their query but everyone knows what is meant, the high and mighty choose the pedantic/superior manor route.

    or:

    2. the OP doesnt like the advice given and takes it onto themselves to become defensive and often agressive.

my response to your query is simply, you will have to stay where you are until the fixed runs out and then go to their SVR unless you want to remortgage elsewhere.

You have the majority of MSE posters down to a tee!
  • It has been fascinating to read the responses. I only asked the question to see if anyone has succeeded in getting out of a fixed deal.

Yes, I'm trying to save money, isn't that the whole point of MSE? If I can't then, hey ho, I'll just wait.

I would like to thank all those whose have made constructive comments. To the others, I hope you feel better for having had a rant!

I would like to think that when I've responded to a post ,it's to try and help someone else by offering them the benefit of my expereince.

    If I can't, I don't.;)
